"Really nice Irish pub and we love the fire place that was lit and the live music. Also was really nice that we could talk and actually hear each other. We spent 3 hours there. Will recommend to friends."

"Lahinch is perfect for a low key day - brunch, lunch, or dinner! There’s dining and bar, so you can pick which atmosphere fits your desire. Bartenders are funny and attentive, and the food is made with love (not kidding). We feel welcome every time we come!"

“Fare with Flair”

At Lahinch Tavern and Grill, Executive Chef Ted Hughes is bringing a unique twist of culinary excellence to the Potomac area by offering much more than just run-of-the-mill Irish fare. Chef Hughes’ passion for quality, farm-fresh ingredients began early in his life as he grew up living on a small farm in upstate New York. After landing a job in a French restaurant in college, Ted switched his major from chemistry to food and hotel management. While in Paris, he worked and educated himself in classical French Cuisine. From there, he traveled to many places, including Napa Valley, California; Amman, Jordan; and Puerto Rico, finally settling in northern Virginia. His experiences working under many world-class chefs gave him a well-rounded education in the amazing diversity and history of what is now considered to be modern cuisine.

“I love being able to provide a comfortable, cozy environment where people can have a home away from home and enjoy a variety of foods, whether it be a simple pub-style dish or something a bit more elegant,” Ted says. “I go to the market twice a week and hand-select produce so that we are able to serve our guests some of the region’s freshest products available.”

Inside Potomac’s New Lahinch Tavern and Grill

It’s easy to forget you’re at a suburban shopping center after stepping inside the new Irish tavern Lahinch in Potomac.

The owners of the restaurant have transformed the space into a relaxed setting with reclaimed wood walls, a comfortable bar, an open kitchen and floor-to-ceiling windows that allows sunlight to stream inside.

The new restaurant, which replaces Benny’s Bar and Grill at the Cabin John Shopping Center and Mall, is owned by the same family that has operated the Irish Inn in Glen Echo since 2003. Lahinch officially opens to the public Wednesday for lunch and dinner service. The restaurant will also offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.
